Cannabis Products, including Edibles

Your child may express some curiosity about cannabis products – that does not mean they intend to use them.  It’s natural for youth to be curious about a substance that is frequently in the media and they may have questions about using cannabis.

This resource can inform and prepare you to speak with your kids about cannabis edibles, extracts, and topicals.

Informational Resources for youth

About 42% of youth said they vaped cannabis the first time they used it, according to the 2019 Canadian Student Tobacco, Alcohol and Drug Survey. On average, students surveyed said they were 14 years old when they first used cannabis.

The Canadian Centre on Substance Use and Addiction has released two new educational videos to increase youth’s knowledge, understanding and awareness of the risks of cannabis vaping.
